Q: How old do you have to be to get a tattoo or piercing?
A: You must be 18 years old to get a tattoo. If you are 16 years of age you may receive a tattoo, but only with parental consent. You must be 16 years old to get most piercings (18 for genitals & female nipple piercing). If you are 14 years you may receive a piercing, but only parental consent.
Parental consent can only be given in person. The parent and child must have proper government issued ID and proof of relationship.
